This thread is about the additional and combined drainage demands of Acorn’s proposed housing in Blackawton. Our drainage concerns remain while the exact site is clarified.
Site-location clarification — 8 October 2026: Further information suggests that the proposal may concern a field across the road from French Furze, rather than the field behind and uphill of the estate previously discussed here. Acorn’s boundary, catchments and receiving drainage networks have not been verified. A connection through French Furze, or reliance on Vistry’s remedy, must not be assumed.
Useful questions include:
- What is the exact site boundary, and which catchments and drainage assets would serve it? What foul-water and surface-water routes, connections and outfalls are proposed, and who must agree to them?
- What existing and future flows are included in the capacity calculations? Compare the relevant receiving systems without and with the proposed homes and other committed growth.
- Would the scheme share infrastructure or depend on Vistry’s remedial works? If so, what happens if those works are delayed or perform differently from the design assumptions?
- What evidence would demonstrate acceptable downstream effects during construction and after occupation?
The drainage evidence page separates public records from resident meeting accounts. Please give the title, date and public link for any technical report, and say whether you have actually read it. A reported incident does not, on its own, establish its cause.
The existing Vistry remedy is pursued through the quarterly meetings. Use this discussion to establish whether and how the proposed housing would interact with that remedy or any shared downstream network, and what separate infrastructure or capacity assessment the new development requires.
